GC Fuji IX GP is an easy-to-use, fluoride-releasing material that serves as an affordable alternative to expensive compomers, composites, and in many instances, amalgam. It sets to a hard consistency and offers excellent wear resistance. As a true glass ionomer, it forms a chemical bond with tooth structure, has a similar coefficient of thermal expansion to that of natural teeth, and releases significant levels of rechargeable fluoride. It is available in both hand-mix powder-liquid form and premeasured capsules.
Benefits:
- Provides enhanced durability, longevity, and integrity, being 60% stronger than conventional glass ionomers.
- Performance is within 10% of compomer materials.
- Wears at a rate slightly higher than posterior composites.
- Offers a 2-minute working time.
- Self-cures in 2.5 minutes, with about 4.5 minutes from the start of mixing.
- Allows for single-step placement, even for larger fillings.
