Directions To Use
1. Cavity Preparation
Prepare the tooth using standard techniques, ensuring that extensive mechanical retention is not necessary. For pulp capping, use calcium hydroxide. In Class V or II situations, it is recommended to use an anatomical matrix system. Metal bands should be lubricated with petroleum jelly. Optionally, apply GC CAVITY CONDITIONER or GC DENTIN CONDITIONER to the bonding surfaces. Rinse the prepared area thoroughly with water. Gently blot away excess water with a cotton pellet or dry with an air syringe. DO NOT DESICCATE. The prepared surfaces should remain moist and appear glistening.
2. Capsule Activation and Mixing
Before activation, shake the capsule or tap its side on a hard surface to loosen the powder. To activate the capsule, push the plunger until it is flush with the main body. Immediately place the capsule into a metal GC CAPSULE APPLIER and click the lever once to activate it. The capsule should be activated just before mixing and used immediately. Next, remove the capsule and place it into a mixer (or amalgamator). Mix for 10 seconds at approximately 4,000 RPM.
3. Restorative Technique
After mixing, remove the capsule from the mixer and load it into the GC CAPSULE APPLIER. Prime the capsule by making two clicks, then syringe the material. The working time is 1 minute 15 seconds from the start of mixing at 23°C (73.4°F); higher temperatures will shorten the working time. Within 10 seconds of mixing, begin to extrude the mixture directly into the preparation. Form the preliminary contour and cover with a matrix if required. During the first 2 minutes 30 seconds after mixing, extra care should be taken to avoid moisture contamination or drying out. If this cannot be ensured, immediately apply EQUIA Forte Coat and light cure.
Note:
- To adjust the direction of the nozzle, hold the applier with the capsule towards you and turn the capsule body.
- To remove the used capsule, push the applier release button, twist the capsule, and pull upwards.
4. Finishing
Finish under water spray using superfine diamond burs after 2 minutes 30 seconds from the start of mixing. When applying EQUIA Forte Coat to existing EQUIA Forte Fil restorations, roughen the surface to be coated with superfine diamond burs.
5. Coating
Spray preparation dust away with water and dry by gently blowing with oil-free air. Ensure the surfaces to be coated are dry, but avoid desiccation. For bottle type, dispense a few drops of EQUIA Forte Coat into a disposable dispensing dish and replace the bottle cap immediately. For unit dose type, unscrew the cap counterclockwise, ensuring you identify the top and bottom of the unit dose before opening. IMMEDIATELY apply the material (within 1 minute after dispensing) to the surfaces to be coated using a disposable micro-tip applicator. Make sure the applicator is firmly fixed. Use floss to apply the coating to the approximal surface. DO NOT AIR BLOW.
Note:
- Non-bur cut enamel should be treated with a 35-40% phosphoric acid as per the manufacturer’s instructions. Rinse and dry with oil-free air.
- If the coated surface is contaminated with water, blood, or saliva prior to light curing, wash and dry the surface and repeat the coating procedure.
- Ambient light may shorten the working time. It is recommended to decrease the light intensity or turn off the operation light during cementation.
- If the cap of the unit dose is too tight to open, do not force it. Use another unit dose to avoid accidental contact with the liquid.
- Unit dose capsules are disposable. Do not recap or reuse them to prevent cross-contamination.
6. Light Curing
IMMEDIATELY light cure all coated surfaces with a visible light-curing unit (minimum >500mW/cm²: Halogen, GC G-Light, LED) for 20 seconds.
Note:
- Place the light source as close as possible to the coated surface.
- If the surface remains tacky or yellowish, repeat light curing.
- Always use protective eye wear or a light shield during light curing.
- EQUIA Forte Coat may produce a brief exothermic reaction during curing, which can be minimized by applying a thin layer. Avoid curing on soft tissue.
