Product Details

ChemFil Superior is a high-quality glass ionomer restorative material designed for strong adhesion, durability, and aesthetic restorations. Comprising a blend of aluminosilicate glass and polyacrylic acid, it forms a reliable bond with enamel and dentin when mixed with distilled water. This results in well-sealed, long-lasting restorations with fluoride release for enhanced protection.

Indications:

  • Class V restorations (cervical cavities and lesions)
  • Class I and II restorations in primary teeth
  • Class III restorations in anterior teeth
  • Temporary and semi-permanent fillings
  • Fissure fillings for minimal Class I cavities

Contraindications:

  • Not suitable for direct or indirect pulp capping
  • Not recommended for permanent restorations in high-stress occlusal areas

Key Benefits:

  • Strong dentin adhesion – Forms a durable, long-term bond to hydroxyapatite, even in moist conditions.
  • Minimal cavity preparation – Allows for a more conservative approach to tooth structure preservation.
  • Sustained fluoride release – Provides added protection against caries.
  • Aesthetic color stability – Matches natural enamel and remains unaffected by oral fluids over time.
  • Fast setting with ‘snappy’ consistency – Maintains workability and rapidly sets into a rock-hard restoration.
  • Easy mixing and handling – Smooth consistency with high powder loading for improved strength and aesthetics.

Directions To Use

Step 1: Cavity Preparation

  • Requires minimal cavity preparation.
  • No need for mechanical retention unless the restoration is subject to high displacement forces.

Step 2: Cleaning

  • Ensure the tooth surface is clean for proper adhesion.
  • For freshly cut enamel and dentin, rinse with water spray and air-dry.
  • If no cavity preparation is required, clean with a rubber cup and pumice or prophy paste.

Step 3: Pulp Protection

  • In deep cavities, apply a calcium hydroxide liner over dentin near the pulp.
  • Keep the remaining cavity floor and walls exposed for optimal bonding.

Step 4: Surface Conditioning

  • Use a tooth cleanser or conditioner designed for glass ionomer restorations.
  • Apply to the cavity surface for 15 seconds, then rinse and gently dry, leaving a moist surface.

Step 5: Shade Selection

  • Available in 7 shades.
  • Shade selection should be done using the provided shade guide, as glass ionomer restorations undergo slight color changes in the first few hours after placement.
